St Johnstone hope the necessary paperwork that will allow new signing George Bowerman to make his debut for the club will be completed soon.
The 21-year-old former Walsall striker has agreed a deal with Saints until January but will not be able to feature for the Perth club until the registration process is complete.
That remains in the hands of the English FA, Courier Sport understands, but officials at McDiarmid Park do not foresee any problem and expect the matter to be resolved in the coming days.
The difficulty appears to lie with the fact that Bowerman played two games on a non-contract basis with Conference side Woking Town after his release from Walsall, although Saints boss Tommy Wright is keen to include Bowerman in his plans sooner rather than later.
“We have been on the phone every day with the SFA and there’s no problem there. It’s just the English FA taking a long time to process it for us,” he said.
“I can’t see there being any problem and there’s nothing to suggest there will be a problem. Fitness-wise he’s alright and we want to get him a few under20 games because he probably needs some match time.”
Wright revealed that midfielder Gary McDonald missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Partick due to a hamstring strain, although he should be available to slot back into midfield this weekend for the visit of table-topping Inverness.
And while the injury to Steven Anderson may cause him a headache defensively, the Saints boss is content with his options in the middle of the park.
Gary McDonald felt his hamstring on Friday morning so was pulled him out as a precaution.
Murray Davidson came in and looked a lot fresher, according to Wright, who also praised Scott Brown, whom he says is also pushing for a place.
