St Johnstone managed to beat the transfer deadline with a late, late move for midfielder Danny Swanson.
The 28-year-old former Dundee United player has signed on loan from Coventry City for the remainder of the season.
Saints boss Tommy Wright had said earlier in the day that he didn’t expect any signings ahead of the midnight deadline, but that situation changed as the evening progressed.
“He’s a talented player who I think will add quality to the squad at a crucial time of the season,” he said.
“We enquired about him previously but he was unavailable but he became available late this afternoon and I am delighted to have secured him.”
Swanson moved south of the border to Peterborough in 2012 after making more than 100 appearances for United.
