St Johnstone have beaten off interest from Rangers, Hearts and Hibs to sign highly-rated young Spartans striker George Hunter.
Hunter (18) has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Perth club after impressing in a week’s trial.
Several clubs have been tracking the teenager, who has scored 34 goals for Spartans’ under-20s in 14 games, but Saints were the first to agree compensation with the Lowland League side.
Spartans manager Dougie Samuel has stated that Hunter leaves Ainslie Park with their best wishes.
He said: “From day one, George has demonstrated a fantastic work ethic and desire to improve, to be the best he can be.
“He has a wonderful composure in front of goal which allows him to score all types of goals.
“George has earned this wonderful opportunity and we all wish him well.”
