St Johnstone boss Steve Lomas piled praise on his players for making it successive top-six finishes for the club.
A dramatic 1-1 draw at home to Dundee United, earned by a stoppage-time header from midfielder Liam Craig, meant the Perth men will be in the upper half of the SPL.
United opened the scoring through 17-year-old Ryan Gauld on 23 minutes but couldn’t hang on in the closing stages after having Stuart Armstrong sent off for a second bookable offence.
So it’s two-in-a-row for Lomas and his men and the Perth boss was a happy man.
“In the first half we looked like a team that had had three weeks off and Dundee United out-harried us and we lost a terrible goal from our point of view,” he said.
“I didn’t think there was much between the teams in the first half but I thought in the second we were fully dominant even before the sending off.
“At the break I said to the lads that I knew they wanted to win but they needed to show a little bit more composure. I thought we did that.
“We made a host of chances but all credit to the lads for seeing it through. I think Liam scored the first header of his career with his eyes closed!
“I am delighted to be in the top six again. We would have preferred to have won the game but I am glad we are there. We now want to go again and we face a tricky game up at Inverness, who totally dismantled Hibs at the weekend.
“The never-say-die spirit is here in abundance. I am delighted that we came back like that in the last minute.”
