Craig Beattie back to add to St Johnstone’s firepower
ByThe Courier Reporter
ST JOHNSTONE’S Craig Beattie has spoken of his joy at returning to first-team action after what has been the most frustrating spell of his career because of illness and injury.
The big striker came on for the last 22 minutes of Saints Scottish Cup win at Cowdenbeath on Monday night, his first appearance since another cameo against St Mirren away back on October 2.
Now, the former Scotland front man is hoping he has forced his way into contention for Saturday’s league game in Aberdeen.
However, he acknowledged that might be difficult as Perth boss Steve Lomas has an embarrassment of striking riches to choose from.
Beattie said: “It was good to get back into it. You can have no idea just how frustrated I have been the last couple of months.
“In fact, I am struggling to find a time in my career when I have been more frustrated.
“I am working very hard and trying to do as much as I can to get fitness into me.”
