Solheim Cup winner Beatriz Recari returned to St Andrews to tutor young players at the inaugural Allianz Golf Camp based at the Links all week.
Allianz, one of St Andrews Links Trust’s partners, invited 15 young players eight boys and seven girls from all over the world with their parents or coaches for a week’s intensive training and mentoring at the Home of Golf.
The company has been running similar camps for football tied to European champions Bayern Munich in Germany, starting with just a handful of players five years ago and now extended to 75 this summer.
The company envisage the same kind of growth for their St Andrews golf camp in years to come.
Recari, a member of Liselotte Neumann’s record-breaking European side last month, was there to work with the youngsters.
“It’s great to see how excited they are to come here, and how much they know St Andrews, the courses and the game,” said the Spaniard.
“They’re all so knowledgable about everything in the game and it’s fantastic not only that they come from all over the world, but that there’s almost an equal mix of girls and boys; it’s a real equality of opportunity as it should be in golf.”
