Newburgh golfer Ian Redford has made a good start to the season, finishing second in the Scottish Boys Championship.
The 17-year-old was beaten only by fellow Scottish internationalist Grant Forrest at West Kilbride.
This was despite the competition forming part of a gruelling fortnight of almost continuous play for the teenager, during which he also came second in the first junior tour event.
After 14 rounds in 12 days, fatigue took its toll and he finished 27th in the McEvoy Trophy, but he he was still happy to have made the cut.
He said, “It was tough but it tested my character, showed that I could really dig deep.”
Redford is hopeful that his early season results will go some way to helping him earn his place on international teams this year.
He also plans to play in both Scottish amateur championships.
