Scot Chris Doak’s scorching form in the Algarve sunshine continued with a flawless 64 keeping him in contention at the Portugal Masters in Vilamoura.
The 35-year-old, who hit five birdies and an eagle and is yet to drop a shot this week, lies one shot off the joint leaders, England’s Paul Waring and South African Hennie Otto.
“I’m very pleased,” said Doak, who is 112th on the Race to Dubai with only the top 110 after next week’s Perth International keeping their full playing privileges for next season.
“Especially bogey-free for two rounds, anybody will take that.
“It’s a job well done. The mind tends to race so I am just trying to relax and when you are you relaxed you can execute the shots properly and that’s what I have done the last two days.”
Doak shares second place on 11 under with Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger who carded a second round 65. Meanwhile Waring and Otto inspired each other to claim a share of the lead.
Playing in the same group, Waring and Otto recorded 14 birdies and one eagle between them to each finish 12 under par, Waring returning a flawless 63 and Otto a 64.
Lynn, still struggling with the virus which affected him during the Seve Trophy, had shared the overnight lead on six under and late in the day carded his second consecutive 65 with four birdies and an eagle from just six feet on the par-five 12th.
Paul Lawrie is only four behind fellow Scot Doak after carding a 66 yesterday, while Stephen Gallacher is two further back following a second round 67.
Fifer Peter Whiteford is on level par thanks to a fine second round 68 and sits alongside Craig Lee, who carded a 71. Near the top of the leaderboard are David Drysdale and Scott Jamieson on two under and Richie Ramsay is one further back.
Marc Warren is four over after scoring a disappointing 74.
