Dundee Stars ‘looking to continue climbing’ after Steelers win
ByThe Courier Reporter
Jeff Hutchins has praised his Dundee Stars side who beat high-flying Sheffield Steelers and declared: “We’re looking to continue climbing.”
The 4-2 victory moves Dundee off the bottom of the Elite League for the first time in weeks and into ninth place.
He said: “When you looked at the team on paper I knew we were better than tenth place. We showed that against Sheffield who are a quality side. The signs were there the previous Sunday when we pushed Nottingham Panthers into overtime. We did the job on Sunday night.”
Fife Flyers associate player-coach Danny Stewart demanded consistency from his squad and he got it with back-to-back weekend wins over Hull Stingrays and Edinburgh Capitals.
The Kirkcaldy club are now sixth and Stewart said: “Edinburgh scored first but they were down on players and we worked them hard all over the ice and were rewarded.”
He added: “We’re sixth now and playing well but we’re only taking one game and one weekend at a time.
“There are a lot of good teams out there and we can’t get ahead of ourselves.”
