Dundee Stars’ play-caller Jeff Hutchins has vowed to fans that they will turn things around.
The Tayside team, who last season finished third in the Elite League, are cast adrift at the foot of the table.
They entertain Hull Stingrays on Sunday (6.30pm) in their only game of the weekend and player/coach Hutchins said: “I’m not a quitter and we’ll get this right.”
Stars desperately need a win after four-straight defeats, a run which sees them anchored at the foot of the table with only 11 points from 23 games.
Hull occupy the eighth and final play-off position. They have 18 points from 20 games and victory on Sunday is therefore a must for the Tayside team.
Hutchins told the club’s TV that three mistakes cost his side the game on Saturday against Capitals.
Last night the forward said: “We outshot them (Edinburgh). It is frustrating and disappointing.
“This (being bottom of the table) is not something I envisaged at the start of this year.”
And in a message to fans, the former Great Britain hitman said: “If we weren’t giving the effort then I would be disappointed, but we are.
“The guys are working hard but we don’t have the cutting edge we had last season.”
Meanwhile, Stars’ Teddy Toss will be at the Ice Arena on Sunday.
The club are working with Radio Tay’s Cash For Kids with the aim of making Christmas special for thousands of disadvantaged children.
Fans can bring a new teddy, soft toy or present to the game which can be tossed onto the ice at the end of the first period.
