Dundee Stars yesterday started a global search for a new hit-man, after top marksman John Mitchell walked out on the club.
The American quit after Saturday’s home, penalty shot defeat by fellow-strugglers Edinburgh Capitals.
And Jeff Hutchins, Dundee’s player/coach, hopes to have a replacement in before the Tayside team meet Edinburgh Capitals in a crucial basement double-header this weekend, with the first instalment in Dundee on Saturday.
Hutchins said: “Mitchell quit on us. He has got another opportunity and he’s gone.
“Chris Blight was out injured Sunday and we had 11 skaters. They battled hard and we can take positives out of the weekend.
“Sunday did not go the way we wanted and on Saturday it was was frustrating as we dominated most of the game.
“We’ll get back to work this week and be ready for Edinburgh.”
