Dundee Tigers gained swift revenge over Aberdeen Lynx thanks to a narrow 6-5 Scottish National League victory.
A 4-2 second period surge on Saturday was crucial as the visitors, who beat Tigers 8-1 in the Autumn Cup in the North-East the previous weekend, won the final session 3-2.
A double from Mark McLeod and singles from Grant Reekie, Craig Wilson, Dan Topping and Pavel Pliskov
earned the Tayside team the win. Lynx scorers were Jordan Leyden with three and two from Scott Chalmers.
Ian Carstairs, Dundee’s player/coach, said: “It is great to get the two points on the board but we really made it difficult for ourselves.
“We dominated the first period without anything to show for it but had two goals within the first minute of the second and had a third less than five minutes in.
“The period ended with us 4-2 ahead but It could have been 14-2. We struggled with penalties in the third period and had to play over half of it short-handed.
“After we scored two early goals to put us 6 -2 up, including the game-winner by 16-year-old Pavel Pliskov with his first Scottish National League goal, the Lynx scored three power play goals. We finished the period short-handed and had to dig deep to make sure we took both points.”
