Fife Flyers have received a major boost ahead of this weekend’s Elite League play-offs.
Montenegro-born left-wing Ned Lukacevic was voted player of the week. The former Los Angeles Kings draft pick has risen to fifth in Fife’s individual scoring charts after only arriving in mid-December.
And the 28-year-old has scored 15 goals in 32 games as well as setting up another 28 strikes. The judges said: “Since his arrival, he has been influential for the Fife Flyers as they battled for a play-off spot.
“Although pointless in his last game, he stepped up to the mark in the two previous games, both going to a penalty shootout.
“Nick also scored the game-winning penalty goal in both games to get the wins that eventually helped the Flyers into the play-offs.”
Meanwhile, Braehead Clan head to Nottingham today for the first leg of their play-off quarter-final against defending champions Panthers.
The Lace City side are on a high, having retained the Challenge Cup on Tuesday after pulling back a three-goal deficit against Belfast Giants.
