Sir Menzies intervenes in debate on tactical voting

Sir Menzies Campbell, the former MP for North East Fife, has intervened in the debate about tactical voting.
Forward Together, a group advocating tactical voting against the SNP, has urged supporters of Unionist parties to vote Liberal Democrat in his former constituency.
Sir Menzies said: “In the last 28 years I have had ample opportunity to observe the political mood in North East Fife and therefore feel qualified to enter the debate on tactical voting.
“The results of the recent Ashcroft opinion poll, which put the Tories in a poor third place and Labour in single figures, confirm my judgment that the contest in North East Fife is between the Lib Dems and the SNP.
“I understand the efforts of local Conservatives to argue otherwise but to do so is to ignore reality. Anyone who values the United Kingdom should think long and hard before voting Conservative or Labour in a contest that neither can win.
“(Lib Dem) Tim Brett is an outstanding candidate… He is worthy of support.”
