Marc Lefebvre has told Dundee Stars’ fans that there is still a lot of work to do ahead of the start of the season.
The Stars, who won all three of their pre-season games, face-off against Belfast Giants in the Challenge Cup on Friday.
Lefebvre believes his men showed a lot of character, particularly in the 6-3 success over the highly-rated Belfast on Sunday.
He said: “We won three games (pre-season) and I was pleased with the speed and the work ethic shown by the guys. Our penalty kill was also good against Belfast and we scored some goals which is good.”
“We’re not going to win every game but if we show the same work ethic then we have a chance.
“People should realise that we’re not here to make up the numbers and if we put in the effort we showed pre-season then we will have a successful year.”
Meanwhile, Fife Flyers welcomed new defenceman Nicholas Rioux yesterday as he met his new team-mates on a bonding trip to St Andrews.
The 28-year-old was delayed because of red-tape but he faces a gym session today and a full week of practice including double doses of skating on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the club’s double-header against Coventry Blaze in the Elite League this weekend.
Fife associate player-coach Danny Stewart said: “Nicholas arrived early Monday.
“He’ll have a full week of practice before we meet Coventry.”
