Fife Flyers resume their bid to make the play-offs when they ice a full-strength squad at Hull Stingrays.
The Kirkcaldy club follow up with a tough road trip to runaway Elite League leaders Belfast Giants on Saturday before hosting Dundee Stars on Sunday.
Danny Stewart, Fife’s associate player/coach, is determined to build on Sunday’s 5-1 thrashing of bottom club Edinburgh Capitals.
Flyers have 16 league games remaining and Stewart has not given up hope of making the top eight, which guarantees a play-off position.
He said: “We play Hull three times and we’ve got two games in hand over Cardiff. It’s a tough call but we want to be in the play-offs and to do that we have to start putting a run of wins together.
“Sunday was a good win. It’s a start and it was also a good performance. We went a goal down but kept going, which was pleasing.
“We’ve struggled to get goals but the guys put them together, scoring five in a row in 17 minutes in the second period which took us to two points.”
He added: “It was good to see the guys scoring like that and we need that type of consistency if we want to win games and make the play-offs.
“Wednesday in Hull, Saturday in Belfast and then at home to Dundee on Sunday, that’s a tough run of games but we see them as an opportunity to get some points.”
One thing in Fife’s favour is that Belfast have a Challenge Cup, semi-final second-leg at Cardiff tonight and entertain Hull on Friday.
Stewart said: “We’ve played some decent hockey this season, now we have to deliver by scoring goals.
“Every time we play Hull the result has been close and we expect a tough, physical battle down there. They have dangerous forwards and we have to concentrate.”
