UK Championship: Perth snooker star Scott Donaldson fights back to record ‘best win’
ByThe Courier Reporter
Perth snooker pro Scott Donaldson produced what he described as the “best win” of his career so far as he beat England’s world No 13 Mark Davis 6-5 to reach the last 32 of the William.hill.com UK Championship in York.
Donaldson said: “I am over the moon. Mark’s a great player but even at 5-4 down I knew if I won the next frame then I was in with a great chance.
“The 31 clearance I made in the last frame was probably one of the most important breaks I have ever made as it got me over the line in what is the best win of my career.”
He added: “I’ve been to the last 16 of the Wuxi Classic earlier this season but this is such a big tournament, especially in the UK.
“I always used to watch it on TV when I was a wee boy so it’s great to now be actually part of it.”
In a tight match, the Scot led 2-0 after a run of 66 in the second frame, despite Davis making a break of 56.
Davis fought back though to win the next two frames, making a break of 96 to level the match at the interval.
