Olympic bronze medallist Eve Muihead continued her unbeaten defence of her Scottish Curling Championship title with a six-end 8-1 defeat of Scottish junior champion Sophie Jackson in Perth.

This was Pitlochry star Muirhead’s third win so far and she is joined at the top of the rankings by Stirling’s Lauren Gray, who is also undefeated after three round-robin games.

In the men’s championship Olympic silver medallist David Murdoch lost his unbeaten record with a 4-8 defeat at the hands of Cameron Bryce.

Murdoch now finds himself in a four-way tie at the top of the table with Bryce, Grant Hardie and Tom Brewster, who had a 7-6 extra end win over Scottish junior champion Bruce Mouat.

Defending champion Ewan MacDonald recorded his first win after four successive losses a 10-6 victory over Perth’s Moray Combe.

The country’s top curlers are competing in Perth this week for the honour of representing Scotland at the 2016 Women’s and Men’s World Curling Championships in Canada and Switzerland respectively.

The championships are taking place at the Dewars Centre and run until Saturday.
