Ice hockey: Fife Flyers told to be ready for special clash with Edinburgh Capitals
ByThe Courier Reporter
Determined Danny Stewart is preparing his success-hungry Fife Flyers squad for “our biggest game of the year.”
In-form Edinburgh Capitals are the visitors to Rosslyn Street on Saturday at 7.15pm, and the battle-hardened forward stressed this clash was special.
If Capitals, who are ninth in the 10-strong Elite League, win then they will creep to within one point of the Kirkcaldy combine with two games in hand in the race for a play-off spot.
If Fife are successful, though, then they would move five points clear.
Stewart has rammed that point home to his squad in training this week, and Flyers go into the game with only Kyle Horne out as he recovers from a long-standing injury.
Stewart said: “This is an absolutely vital game. We are focused on ourselves but we are aware of the points situation in the league.
“It’s a must-win game, but Edinburgh are going well with three straight wins in the league.”
Dundee Stars entertain Nottingham Panthers.
With Stars at home, short-benched Dundee Tigers, with five players carrying injuries and three unavailable, are on Scottish National League duty at Kilmarnock Storm at 7pm today.
