Fired-up Fife Flyers continued their fine run of form with a 3-1 success over local rivals Dundee Stars.
It was the Kirkcaldy side’s sixth straight win and sees them turn up the heat on play-off rivals Cardiff Devils.
Coach Todd Dutiaume’s men are now on 42 points, two points adrift of the Welsh side who have also played 44 games but have lost their last two.
Flyers had to come from behind after injury-hit Stars took the lead early in the second half.
Stars, with several key men still sidelined, including Canadian marksman Mike Wirll, worked hard but remain in fifth place on 49 points from 43 games.
Earlier, Jack McLellan continued his fine scoring form since arriving from North America by firing Dundee in front after 26 minutes.
It was his fourth goal in five games and assistant captain Billy Bagron set up the chance. Dundee’s joy was short-lived as Ned Lukacevic levelled with his 11th goal for the club seven minutes later.
Danny Stewart, Fife’s associate player-coach, supplied the ammunition.
In-form Jordan Fulton, the club’s top points scorer, netted his 21st of the season three minutes later on the power play after the club’s leading goalscorer Bobby Chaumont fed him the puck.
Defenceman Kyle Haines ended the scoring with a third after 44 minutes also on the power play with Matt Reber and Chaumont assisting.
It was his ninth goal of the season. It was a double celebration for former Great Britain defenceman Kyle Horne, who iced in his 400th Elite League game.
Vince Connon, of Dundee, also played his 200th game, which saw Dundee goaltender Dan Bakala deal with 23 shots and Kevin Regan (Fife) face 21.
Dundee Stars travel to face Hull Stingrays on Saturday, then host Nottingham Panthers the following day, while the Flyers will face a difficult task if they are to extend their winning streak when they host league champions Belfast Giants on Saturday.
