Losses in Newport and Munster are followed by Thursday’s visit to the Parc y Scarlets and a home team culled of Wales internationalists as well as Scotland’s Sean Lamont and the Australian wants to see his team pull together all the elements that he believes he saw improve in the last two outings.
“We’ve done well in certain parts of the games, but at the same time there’s been areas where we’ve struggled,” he said. “Against Dragons it was the set-piece, and against Munster it was our concentration.
“You look at both tries Dougie Howlett scored and they can be traced back to basic lapses by our players. The same goes for the Jonathan Davies try the last time we played Scarlets.
“It’s nothing to do with bamboozling play or outrageous skill it’s down to easily avoidable mistakes.”
Chris Paterson, Geoff Ross and Ross Rennie are out of the squad due to Scotland requirements with Jim Thompson, David Young and Alan MacDonald going into the starting line-up, while Lewis Niven gets a shot at loose-head after impressing in two bench appearances.
