Dundee HSFP captain Alan Brown will retain the honour for next season and start a new coaching role with the Mayfield club. Brown, the former Scotland under-20 player, has been with the club since he was 18 and was named skipper for the first time last year. Now 33, High head coach Colin Robertson has convinced the tight-head prop to take on a player/coach role in 2014-15. “Alan will continue to lead from the front as captain but I am adding a further role to move him towards coaching,” Robertson said. “He has a natural coaching approach and a lot of experience, which we will benefit many at the club. “We are always looking at ways to develop our local coaches and players but, firstly, the focus will be on a big playing year for him.” Brown will assist both Robertson and forwards coach J J Van der Esch. Brown said: “I’m excited about this role, it is something I’ve always wanted to do and looking forward to working with Colin and JJ. “Winning each week for Dundee is the first thing for me and we have a very exciting season ahead.”
