Edinburgh rugby supremo Alan Solomons has challenged his men to make a name for themselves by beating a World Cup side.
Edinburgh will square up to the tough guys of Romania at Melrose next month one of two warm-up clashes ahead of the launch of the Pro12 campaign.
Solomons believes it will be the ideal test for his squad and useful preparation for the opposition in the build up to the World Cup in England.
He said: “Romania are a physical side, but we are looking forward to the challenge they will bring.
“It will be competitive and a good opportunity for both sides in their respective preparations.”
Edinburgh will also take on Ulster at Goldenacre a week later, and the capital side’s new managing director, Jonny Petrie, said: “We’re delighted to welcome two highly-rated teams.
“Our fans are sure to enjoy the special atmosphere the club grounds will offer.”
