In their previous three meetings over the past nine years, Hillhead Jordanhill had never got to within 20 points of toppling Dundee HSFP.
They came within seconds of pulling off what would have been a memorable win in the RBS National League only for the final kick of the match in the sixth minute of injury time to earn the home side a 15-13 win.
With the wind at their backs in the first half, Hills dominated with aggressive defence against a High side who were unable to unleash their backs or allowed to get any real pack momentum.
Hills backs created space for wing Daniel Osugo to cruise in under the posts for Andrew Leslie to add the conversion and the home frustration could be seen as Leslie was offered two penalty opportunities inside the 22 as they were pinged at the breakdown.
Leslie slotted both, High got on the board with a Bryce Hastie penalty but the visitors were well worth their 13-3 half-time lead.
After the break the home forwards gradually built up a head of steam and the momentum gained with the wind in their favour swung things their way and resulted in a try wide out by Danny Levison.
The kick was missed and at 13-8, and with tension mounting on and off the park, High tried to pick a way through but only found it with the final handling move of the match deep in injury time.
Wing Calum Bowie went over in the corner and Hastie, knowing that this was the final play, smacked a nerveless conversion through the posts as Dundee fans heaved a collective sigh of relief.
High will be aware that they have to up their game in the contact area and not simply rely on their experience of Premier rugby to see them through but judge each side in the National League on its merits.
