Edinburgh v Scarlets: Sam Hidalgo-Clyne named to face visitors
ByThe Courier Reporter
Edinburgh youngster Sam Hidalgo-Clyne will get his chance to act as understudy to injured Scotland scrum-half Greig Laidlaw after coach Alan Solomons named him in the side to face Scarlets.
The capital club host their Welsh rivals at Murrayfield but will have to do without Laidlaw once more as he continues to battle back from a knee injury.
Former Stirling County number nine Sean Kennedy has started all three of the club’s RaboDirect Pro12 fixtures so far, but his place has now gone to ex-Heriot’s half-back Hidalgo-Clyne after he impressed the club’s South African coach with his displays from the bench.
Lee Jones starts in place of injured wing Tim Visser (head knock), while fellow Scotland internationalist, Jack Cuthbert, is selected in place of Nikki Walker.
The return of rotated front-row forwards Ross Ford (hooker) and Willem Nel (prop) are the only changes to the pack, while Argentine trialist Joaquin Dominguez could make his debut if called upon from the bench.
