Dunfermline had their hopes of landing the silverware dashed when they lost 28-6 to Caithness after extra time in the final of the RBS Caledonia Regional Shield at Thurso.
Also up for grabs was a place in the semi-finals of the national competition, so the result means there will be no appearance at Murrayfield finals day for the Fifers this season.
Dunfermline reached the break with a 3-0 advantage and, after an equally tense second period, the sides were locked at 6-6. However, the Highlanders had more in reserve and recorded a comfortable win.

Despite the victory, Crieff still sit 10 points behind pacesetters Howe of Fife seconds, who took all five points and boosted their points difference with a 68-28 win in a top v bottom encounter away to Glenrothes seconds.
* Arbroath’s aspirations of closing the gap on Division Four Midlands leaders Perthshire seconds were dashed when they lost 25-3 at Falkirk seconds.
