Scotland have recalled Duncan Weir to stand-off for Saturday’s final RBS 6 Nations match with Ireland in Dublin rather than continue with Glasgow clubmate Peter Horne.
Horne replaced the concussed Finn Russell five minutes into Sunday’s victory over France at BT Murrayfield and Russell has not recovered in time to take part this week.
However head coach Vern Cotter has reverted to a specialist 10 in Weir rather than field Horne, despite the former Howe of Fife back getting rave reviews for his performance at the weekend.
Horne goes back to the bench as does Josh Strauss, who started against France but Ryan Wilson is preferred at No 8 for the visit to the Aviva Stadium.
The other changed is enforced with Jonny Gray out suffering from a pectoral muscle injury, and Tim Swinson steps forward from the bench for his 22nd cap.
On the bench, Rob Harley covers lock although he hasn’t played the position even for Glasgow for several months and Henry Pyrgos is called up to cover skipper Greig Laidlaw.
