Dundee HSFP have picked up their second RBS Try of the Month accolade of the season.
The Mayfield club’s full-back Bryce Hosie won the first trophy in September. This time round it’s back-rower Richie McIver who takes the November award.
The winning try was scored in Dundee HSFP’s 28-25 victory over Kelso at Poynder Park on November 30, when McIver showed a great turn of pace and was helped by excellent support play.
The 26-year-old, an assistant manager at The Playwright restaurant in Dundee, said: “We had a few good scores in the game against Kelso and I’m chuffed that mine has won this award and come out on top.
“We had a slow start to the season, but we’re really starting to gel now, and our game is improving. We’ve been unbeaten in our last four league games.
“We’re trying to create an attacking style of play and I think this try is a good example of the type of game we’re wanting to execute. It sums us up.”
Scottish Rugby’s specialist skills coach Duncan Hodge selected McIver as the winner.
He said: “This is a fantastic try. The side showed great ambition to counter attack from deep and their passing and ability to beat the man was quality.
“The support play was exceptional shown in the fact that any one of three players could have scored the try.”
