Glasgow 27 Northampton 20: Warrior Horne steals the show
ByThe Courier Reporter
GLASGOW warriors hero Peter Horne was mobbed by dozens of kids from his old club Howe of Fife after their 27-20 Heineken Cup victory over Northampton on Saturday.
The utility back who could force his way into Scotland boss Scott Johnson’s Six Nations plans revealed it was not the Saints markers who almost prevented him bagging his famous 50-metre try, but himself.
He explained: “Alex Dunbar gave me a great offload and I managed to get on a support line and pick up the ball.
“I tripped myself up a couple of times but I got myself over the line.
“After the first dummy I thought I’ll just see what happens but then I got to the 22 and I started to realise I might actually makes this.”
Horne also admitted: “I was just delighted to get the score and finish a disappointing campaign on a high.
“It by no means makes up for all of the losses. However, it does give us a few positives to take in for our form in the league season.”
