Al Kellock underlined his tag as rugby’s “Mr Glasgow” by grabbing the skipper’s armband for the eighth season on the trot.
Warriors coach Gregor Townsend revealed the re-appointment was one of the easiest decisions he has ever had to make.
Scotland veteran Kellock was handed the job when he made the switch from Edinburgh in 2005 and since then there have been no real competition for the role.
Coach Townsend declared: “Al is an inspirational leader and does so much for the club both on and off the pitch. He sets an example to others and he has undoubtedly played a huge role in the growth of the Warriors over the last few years.
“This appointment will provide continuity for the club as we look to build on our third place finish in the Pro12 League last season.”
Lineout specialist Kellock earned his 50th cap for Scotland in the 12-8 victory over Ireland in February and was named captain of the Pro12 Dream Team in May.
He said: “I am extremely proud to be made skipper again. I feel hugely privileged just to be able to play for this club, so captaining them is very special.
“There are some new faces in the squad and a lot of competition for places so hopefully we can have a good season, both in the league and Heineken Cup.”
Kellock already holds the Pro12 record for most appearances as captain of any team 86 matches in charge.
Warriors kick-off their campaign on September 6 with a tough home-turf clash against Cardiff Blues before making the short hop to Belfast to square up to Ulster the following weekend.
